A.B.C-Z Koi ni Ochita Bodyguard Lyric Translation

“The Bodyguard that Fell in Love” is my all time favourite Ebi song. The lyrics tell such a beautiful and sad story. I wish Ebi would have made a short film adaption of this like they did for Hanakotoba.

Original Japanese: Utaten

English Translation

A fortissimo rain falls

The wipers can’t keep up

With only irritation I ride the accelerator

Flying past the skyscrapers and drive

Your voice over the phone

Says “Don’t come”

This is their trap, that much I know

But I have to go

In the beginning this was a job It was easy to decide but

Building up at the same time before I knew it I had fallen in love

★Without you I can’t live anymore

I would even give my life to protect you I’m bodyguard only for you

Without you my life has no meaning anymore

I would even risk my life to protect you like I promised that day

I have no regrets I was happy

You changed my average, everyday life

Kidnapped in a basement

I go to your rescue

On the other side of the open door

Stood a laughing shadow

At the echo of a gunshot I lose myself

And I throw my body in the way

It passes through my chest Ignoring the pain

I pull the trigger

You hold my shaking body in your arms

Your cheeks warm and wet Don’t cry Smile for me

I can’t express my love properly but

That’s because I’m awkward Forgive me I love you

I can’t keep my promise anymore but

I’ll become a star in the sky and watch over you forever

Have no regrets Don’t blame yourself

You changed my monochrome, everyday life

You are my everything without you nothing

Your cheeks warm and wet Don’t cry Smile for me

★Repeat
