Just a cute, quick Hika translation because I feel like it’s been ages since he’s talked about these kinds of sweet, personal things in a magazine 💛 (Also he might try and poison himself with mushrooms and/or medicinal herbs, and/or potentially lose a toe to frostbite so we all need to look out for him!!!)
Obsessing Since about a year and a half ago I’ve been totally obsessed with mushrooms. I’ve talked about it before, but the thing that started it was when I swapped with Dai-chan on “Hirunandesu” and went on a local trainline trip and ate a delicious maitake steak, I thought “I really like mushrooms!”. Since then I often make mushroom hotpot at home with lots of mushrooms in it like shimeji, maitake, eringi and shiitake. Yesterday, I went out to a restaurant and had a course meal that had a hotpot with eight different kinds of mushroom in it. The broth was lightly seasoned so it didn’t erase the flavour of the mushrooms, and it had regular, orthodox mushrooms and rare ones like white kikurage, it was delicious. I’m especially into hanabiratake, I ended up asking the restaurant staff “Can I have seconds please!” (Lol).
Studying I actually have a weak stomach, I get dry eyes and I’m prone to allergies. I do my best every day, but I get run down the same as everyone else. When I’m in this condition I can instantly buy the medicine I need easily from a pharmacy. When I take medicine I can’t help feeling like “It’s a bit of a burden on my stomach” or “It’s only going to make me feel better for an hour”. So I thought “Maybe it’s important to improve my overall health” and the doctor at the hospital said “Traditional Chinese medicine may be easier on your stomach”, so lately I’ve been studying about traditional Chinese medicine on the internet. It’s got the same name as traditional Chinese herbal medicine but because it’s different to the questionable dispensing of drug companies, I’ve been researching which seems the most effective, and searching for the traditional Chinese herbal medicine to suit me, it’s quite fun.
Implementing Season wise it’s mid-winter, but to tell the truth, I’ve been passing my time without wearing any socks. There’s a reason for it, I always only wear toe socks. However, putting on toe socks can be a bit of a pain in the ass. Even if I go to the trouble of putting them on before I leave the house, as soon as I get to work I have to take them off again to change into my outfit for the day and it feels like I’m just wasting my time. I thought “I’d rather just go barefoot”. So, recently I’ve only been wearing socks on my days off. Bu—t as I’m saying this, you must be reading this and wondering about what will happen when the temperature gets even colder, so since I won’t be able to resist the cold I’ll properly wear my socks, do you forgive me? (Lol)

Bonus: Completely unnecessary mushroom appendix because I’m extra like that 🍄
