My first all member magazine interview translation in a very long time! This month Duet sent out a survey to all of the idols about how they’ve been spending their time at home in isolation ☺️

Yamada Ryosuke

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

First I put my glasses on. Then I start my day.

What do you do before you go to sleep at night?

Light my diffuser, relax and fall asleep.

What do you do for your health and beauty?

I need to take supplements to keep up a good supply of nutrients, and I workout to keep my body in shape.

Tell us what you wear at home on your own!

My favourite, long tracksuit.

What movie or drama, book, game, or concert would you recommend watching at this time?

The Korean drama “Vagabond” is interesting, so I recommend that.

What music brightens your mood?

The singer/songwriter, Hirai Dai’s songs. Listening to them brightens my mood!

What are you worried about at the moment?

Even though I want to go and work out at the gym, I can’t go out because of self-isolation… This is worrying me.

What’s a behind the scenes story from recording/shooting for YouTube or Island TV?

When we were recording the “Johnny’s World Happy LIVE with YOU” that was uploaded to the Johnny’s public YouTube account, I was happy that, for the first time in a long time, we got to work together with a choreographer who did a lot for us back in the beginning.

What’s something you always have in your fridge?

It’s not in the fridge but something I always have in the freezer is ice. I want to put ice in my drinks when I’m drinking them, so I have some on standby.

What’s something you accidentally buy from the convenience store? 

This is about working out too, bananas aide digestive absorption and have become the companion food to my workouts, so I tend to buy them.

What’s something delicious you’ve eaten lately?

A high grade bento.

What’s something that got you excited lately?

The online game that I’m into released an updated version lately!

What’s your favourite kind of housework?

Cleaning. I clean every day.

What’s your room like right now?

Since I’m cleaning every day, it’s pretty clean.

What’s something you unconsciously bought online lately?

A game console controller charger.

What place in your house is your favourite? What makes you house proud?

I cleaned up the room where I keep a lot of my clothes and made a gaming room. There’s an invader game in there too!

Who have you been contacting during the STAYHOME period?

My friends. We’ve been telling each other what we’ve been up to recently.

What item has been your “saving grace” during the STAYHOME period?

My game console. I can waste a whole day if I have games.

Have you developed any new habits during the STAYHOME period?

My day time and night time have been completely flipped around… Man, this is something I can only do in times like this (Lol).

Please tell us how you’re spending an average day during the STAYHOME period.

In my life where night and day have switched places, it’s not always necessary to wake up in the morning… To start with, I wake up in the morning and play games, workout, watch a movie, clean. I feel like I’m repeating this every day. The thing that takes up more than half of my day is gaming of course! I lock myself up in my gaming room (Lol).

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I send a “good morning” message to the group chat I have with Yabu, Kitayama, Miyacchi and Sakuma.

What do you do before you go to sleep at night?

I always play games. I often play for too long and end up falling asleep like that.

What do you do for your health and beauty?

Sun bathe and work out.

Tell us what you wear at home on your own!

A t-shirt and shorts.

What movie or drama, book, game, or concert would you recommend watching at this time?

Concerts. I often watch the “Hey! Say! JUMP LiVE with me in TOKYO DOME” digest recording that’s on the “Hey! Say! JUMP LIVE TOUR 2014 smart” DVD.

What music brightens your mood?

Tropical house music.

What are you worried about at the moment?

Nothing in particular!

What’s a behind the scenes story from recording/shooting for YouTube or Island TV?

When we were recording the “Johnny’s World Happy LIVE with YOU” for YouTube, working together with people that we don’t usually see left a deep impression. It was fun doing a stage performance for the first time in so long.

What’s something you always have in your fridge?

Tea. I drink it a lot so I buy it by the carton.

What’s something you accidentally buy from the convenience store? 

Cheese. The kind that rips apart easily. I could eat it forever.

What’s something delicious you’ve eaten lately?

The take-out sashimi I ordered.

What’s something that got you excited lately?

The game I’m playing got updated recently.

What’s your favourite kind of housework?

There is no such thing! Someone please do it for me (Lol)

What’s your room like right now?

It’s not messy. Same as always.

What’s something you unconsciously bought online lately?

The same t-shirt in three different colours.

What place in your house is your favourite? What makes you house proud?

The room that my computer’s in. I’ve been in there all the time lately, watching movies, and making music.

Who have you been contacting during the STAYHOME period?

The one I’ve been contacting the most is Arioka. We periodically call each other and update each other on what we’ve been doing lately.

What item has been your “saving grace” during the STAYHOME period?

Music. It brightens my mood, and while I’m listening to it I think “I guess this is work related”.

Have you developed any new habits during the STAYHOME period?

Even on days when I have nothing to do, I keep in mind to wake-up at 8am. So that I don’t ruin my life rhythm.

Please tell us how you’re spending an average day during STAYHOME

I wake up at 8am, and get a delivery for breakfast. I take my BCCA (an amino acid), and then work out. Just after midday I go out on the balcony and feel the sunlight and breeze, I play music while I’m lazing around, watch movies, and make videos for Johnny’s web. I also game in the evenings!

 

Nakajima Yuto

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Wash my hands and gargle. After that I drink green tea and eat breakfast.

What do you do before you go to sleep at night?

Set my alarm.

What do you do for your health and beauty?

I exercise by playing the drums & using my punching bag.

Tell us what you wear at home on your own!

A t-shirt, and the basketball pants I got from my brother.

What movie or drama, book, game, or concert would you recommend watching at this time?

The French anime movie “I Lost My Body”.

What music brightens your mood?

Sakanaction’s “Wasurerarenaino”. I like the rhythm, it’s quite a fun song.

What are you worried about at the moment?

Even though I can’t leave the house I’m not worried…

What’s a behind the scenes story from recording/shooting for YouTube or Island TV?

It was fun singing and dancing for the first time in ages for the “Johnny’s World Happy LIVE with YOU”, and I was happy that I got to see a choreographer that brought back a lot of memories! But, the set list that we performed was pretty exhausting (Lol).

What’s something you always have in your fridge?

Yoghurt drinks.

What’s something you accidentally buy from the convenience store? 

Crab sticks. Because they’re easy to eat and a great way to get protein. But really it’s just because I like the flavour (Lol).

What’s something delicious you’ve eaten lately?

It’s not something I’ve eaten, but I’m glad that the cake I bought my mum for “Mother’s Day” seemed delicious.

What’s something that got you excited lately?

When one of the survivors on a survival TV show I like had to eat a snake.

What’s your favourite kind of housework?

Cleaning the toilet. Nothing compares to the sense of accomplishment you feel when it’s clean, because it makes you feel like you’ve done a good thing.

What’s your room like right now?

It’s messy in some places, but I’ve made it so I can easily spend time in front of the TV.

What’s something you unconsciously bought online lately?

I don’t shop online, but the thing I feel like I would unconsciously buy would be a buff torso shaped human punching bag.

What place in your house is your favourite? What makes you house proud?

The gaming seat in front of the TV. I bought it so I could sit with good posture.

Who have you been contacting during the STAYHOME period?

Keito. He’s been telling me about the state of things in New York and we talk in English a little bit too. He gave me English homework too (Lol).

What item has been your “saving grace” during the STAYHOME period?

My TV remote.

Have you developed any new habits during the STAYHOME period?

So that I don’t get cold, I’ve started drinking warm green tea.

Please tell us how you’re spending an average day during STAYHOME

I wake up about 9am and study English conversation online. I eat lunch about 12pm. After that I watch movies or YouTube, and play the drums. Sometimes I ring Keito or Hama-chan too. In the evenings I do my stretches, have a bath and then go to bed.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I touch my head and check out my bed hair.

What do you do before you go to sleep at night?

I attach my phone to the speaker in my bedroom so that I can listen to music while I sleep. I’ve been listening to a lot of relaxation music lately.

What do you do for your health and beauty?

Stretch and work out.

Tell us what you wear at home on your own!

Generally I wear a pair of shorts made of towel fabric and a t-shirt from JUMP or an artist I like.

What movie or drama, book, game, or concert would you recommend watching at this time?

The “Third Grade Class B’s Kinpachi-sensei” drama. I’m watching series five.

What music brightens your mood?

Dance music. I can’t dance with all my might at the moment, so I listen to the music and dance in my head.

What are you worried about at the moment?

I want a haircut.

What’s a behind the scenes story from recording/shooting for YouTube or Island TV?

When we were filming “Johnny’s World Happy LIVE with YOU”, we had dress rehearsals with a choreographer that did a lot for us when we were Juniors, it was really exciting.

What’s something you always have in your fridge?

Soft drink

What’s something you accidentally buy from the convenience store? 

AA batteries.

What’s something delicious you’ve eaten lately?

A take-out beef bowl.

What’s something that got you excited lately?

On days when the weather is nice I go out on the balcony and sunbathe and it fills me with energy!

What’s your favourite kind of housework?

Cleaning. I use all kinds of cleaning products, and clean properly when I do.

What’s your room like right now?

There’s a lot of things in my living room. I’ve been at home for a long time, I put things in a place where I can reach them from my regular spot on the sofa.

What’s something you unconsciously bought online lately?

A yoga mat.

What place in your house is your favourite? What makes you house proud?

Around my sofa. I have a four-direction sound system installed, so when you’re watching movies or playing games, the ambiance is amazing when you’re listening to the music.

Who have you been contacting during the STAYHOME period?

Chinen. We said “Let’s contact each other periodically” and we’ve stuck to it. The other day we went out on our balconies and talked for almost three hours.

What item has been your “saving grace” during the STAYHOME period?

Games, streaming services, and my music equipment. If I have any one of these things then I can waste a whole day.

Have you developed any new habits during the STAYHOME period?

Stretching and sweating. I don’t sweat when I’m moving my body so I’ve stopped taking baths (Lol).

Please tell us how you’re spending an average day during STAYHOME

I wake up before midday, and have a relaxing brunch. I do something I like while sun bathing. In the evening I move my body and then have a bath. I even use the bathtub. When I get tired I go to sleep.

 

Inoo Kei

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I brush my teeth as soon as I wake up.

What do you do before you go to sleep at night?

I brush my teeth.

What do you do for your health and beauty?

As an idol who is watched by people as a job, I carefully brush my teeth every day (Lol)

Tell us what you wear at home on your own!

At home I spend my time in a set of polka dot pyjamas.

What movie or drama, book, game, or concert would you recommend watching at this time?

For the best thing to help you fall asleep, I recommend watching “The Stanford Sleep Method” instructional video.

What music brightens your mood?

Nothing in particular.

What are you worried about at the moment?

That this irregular lifestyle is continuing. When I’m on a long vacation I can’t really find a routine to my life style.

What’s a behind the scenes story from recording/shooting for YouTube or Island TV?

The member’s discussed and decided on the set list for “Johnny’s World Happy LIVE with YOU” together, and we included “Sakura, saita yo” that we had also played on the radio, I wonder if it made you happy?

What’s something you always have in your fridge?

I’ve started cooking lately, so I’ve collected some basic condiments.

What’s something you accidentally buy from the convenience store? 

I always end up with my hands on a snack.

What’s something delicious you’ve eaten lately?

The curry I made myself was delicious.

What’s something that got you excited lately?

I got excited when the projector I bought arrived at my house.

What’s your favourite kind of housework?

I’m not especially good at it, but I’ve started cooking every day. I’ve made carbonara a number of times and it’s my best dish, the flavour and appearance are authentic.

What’s your room like right now?

Moderately messy.

What’s something you unconsciously bought online lately?

I’ve been spending an increasing amount of time at home and watching a lot of film productions, so I bought a projector.

What place in your house is your favourite? What makes you house proud?

My bed! My favourite thing to do lately is lie on my bed and watch movies on the projector I bought.

Who have you been contacting during the STAYHOME period?

My friends. We’ve been talking to each other about the situation at our jobs, and telling each other how we’ve been spending our time at home.

What item has been your “saving grace” during the STAYHOME period?

Alcohol (Lol). I like it to a degree, but it’s a “saving grace” for adults when they want to relax.

Have you developed any new habits during the STAYHOME period?

I’ve started cooking for myself.

Please tell us how you’re spending an average day during STAYHOME

I’ll watch movies or dramas on my projector the whole time and then before I realise it it’s 8am (Lol). So then I sleep until 8pm. That’s my lifestyle. My night and day have completely changed around.

 

Takaki Yuya

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I spray my bedroom with air freshener. I change the scent to go with the room.

What do you do before you go to sleep at night?

I often watch a movie. I watch it all the way up until I fall asleep.

What do you do for your health and beauty?

The chances I have to move my body have decreased so I make sure to dance a dance from time to time.

Tell us what you wear at home on your own!

I don’t really take much notice, a t-shirt and pants.

What movie or drama, book, game, or concert would you recommend watching at this time?

The “Beach Boys” drama. I’ve been waiting a long time for Summer to come, it’s exciting.

What music brightens your mood?

The music they play at festivals. When I play it at home it naturally brightens my mood.

What are you worried about at the moment?

I’m cooking for myself more, but my repertory is way too small and it’s worrying me (Lol).

What’s a behind the scenes story from recording/shooting for YouTube or Island TV?

I was nervous about filming the “Johnny’s World Happy LIVE with YOU” in one take, since I hadn’t danced that much in a while, it was exhausting (Lol).

What’s something you always have in your fridge?

Natto

What’s something you accidentally buy from the convenience store? 

Boiled eggs. Every now and then I end up buying two.

What’s something delicious you’ve eaten lately?

I wanted to eat it no matter what so I bought some beef tongue salt online. I’ve had more chances to buy ingredients online compared to before.

What’s something that got you excited lately?

Relaxing and sunbathing on the terrace at home.

What’s your favourite kind of housework?

Vacuuming. It feels great when you can visibly see it become clean!

What’s your room like right now?

Nothing has changed, it’s all business as usual (Lol) It’s clean.

What’s something you unconsciously bought online lately?

I tried buying a chopping board.

What place in your house is your favourite? What makes you house proud?

My closet. Because it’s got lots of my favourite clothes inside!

Who have you been contacting during the STAYHOME period?

My best friends. We update each other on what we’ve been doing, and exchange reports on how things are going in the areas we live in.

What item has been your “saving grace” during the STAYHOME period?

The light in my room. It’s refreshing to see the light when the place gets dark.

Have you developed any new habits during the STAYHOME period?

Nothing’s really changed, but I think I’ve been calling people more.

Please tell us how you’re spending an average day during STAYHOME

I wake up around 11am, and spray the room with air freshener. I have a relaxed lunch, tidy up then have a bath, and watch TV. In the evening I go shopping, come home and start cooking. I eat dinner and then relax, and I try to go to sleep when I get tired.

 

Yaotome Hikaru

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I wake up and the first thing I do is look at the clock and think about what I’m going to do that day.

What do you do before you go to sleep at night?

I light a diffuser with a scent that’s good to help you sleep and put on a scary story or scary game video, the I deliberately turn the screen face down so that I fall asleep listening just to the sound.

What do you do for your health and beauty?

Move my body, sing, and make time to be active enough that I work up a sweat.

T-shirts that the members gave me as souvenirs.

What movie or drama, book, game, or concert would you recommend watching at this time?

The “Marble” anime series.

What music brightens your mood?

From time to time I listen to hits from the Showa era like Yamaguchi Momoe-san or Nakamori Akina-san and it brightens my mood.

What are you worried about at the moment?

I can’t go out for ramen.

What’s a behind the scenes story from recording/shooting for YouTube or Island TV?

Since we got a lot of letters from students who were sad that they wouldn’t be able to have a graduation ceremony on Rajira, we played “Sakura, saita yo” on air and I was glad that it was so popular. And so, I wanted to suggest it for “Johnny’s World Happy LIVE with YOU” too.

What’s something you always have in your fridge?

Mayonnaise

What’s something you accidentally buy from the convenience store? 

I always check out the new products. And I like the cold chicken and cheese corners too.

What’s something delicious you’ve eaten lately?

The big hamburg steak I made myself. I tried to recreate the rolling, meaty hamburg steak I had at a restaurant long ago.

What’s something that got you excited lately?

Video calls. It’s been fun seeing the faces of people I don’t meet often and talking to them.

What’s your favourite kind of housework?

Vacuuming

What’s your room like right now?

I put together a new rack and made a place to put my Spring clothes in my clothes room.

What’s something you unconsciously bought online lately?

Survival game goods. I want to play survival games again soon.

What place in your house is your favourite? What makes you house proud?

Lately I like going out on the balcony and drinking coffee.

Kanjani8’s Maruyama-kun, the Junior kids and the JUMP members.

What item has been your “saving grace” during the STAYHOME period?

My punching bag. It’s pivotal to my daily life.

Have you developed any new habits during the STAYHOME period?

Staying up late  and waking up early. So I’m awake for much longer than I was before.

Please tell us how you’re spending an average day during STAYHOME

I finish prepping my breakfast the night before, I wake up in the morning and brush my teeth, then I have breakfast while watching pop culture anime. I relax for a bit and then punch my punching bag. Then I air out the room and clean, and in the evening I go out shopping, watch the things I’m into on a video streaming service and fiddle around with my instruments. At night I eat dinner while video calling someone and continue watching videos.

 

Yabu Kota

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I remake the leftovers from last night’s dinner and make some miso soup.

What do you do before you go to sleep at night?

Read manga on my tablet. When my eyes get bleary I go straight to sleep.

What do you do for your health and beauty?

I drink so much water that my water cooler empties straight away.

Tell us what you wear at home on your own!

I have a lot of things with JUMP’s logo on them.

What movie or drama, book, game, or concert would you recommend watching at this time?

Watch the long 2 Cool anime!

What music brightens your mood?

Bank Band with Salyu’s “to U – PROTECT “to U” version”. They put up a recording of a remote session, and used it for a mask donation project.

What are you worried about at the moment?

I was surprised that my water bill increased so much. Because I can’t go to the sauna I’ve been having more baths at home.

What’s a behind the scenes story from recording/shooting for YouTube or Island TV?

Standing on the stage for “Johnny’s World Happy LIVE with YOU” had the same feeling as a regular concert. Since it was graduation season, I think that “Sakura, saita yo” was an obvious song.

What’s something you always have in your fridge?

The only thing I have a lot of is milk, so that I never run out.

What’s something you accidentally buy from the convenience store? 

Plum crisps.

What’s something delicious you’ve eaten lately?

Tiger prawns. I cooked them myself, then I sprinkled them with salt and ate them and they were delicious!

What’s something that got you excited lately?

I haven’t been able to walk in to my walk in closet lately, but I cleaned it and now I can! It feels great!

What’s your favourite kind of housework?

Cleaning the mirror.

What’s your room like right now?

It’s nice and clean so my Roomba can move around.

What’s something you unconsciously bought online lately?

Now that I’m cooking for myself, I ended up buying some Hasami porcelain bowls and plates.

What place in your house is your favourite? What makes you house proud?

On top of my big bed.

Who have you been contacting during the STAYHOME period?

Mitsu, Miyata, Tsuka-chan and Sakuma. Generally to talk about food and cooking (Lol).

What item has been your “saving grace” during the STAYHOME period?

Paper towel. I use it when I’m cooking, and to dry the plates. It’s exceptionally convenient!

Have you developed any new habits during the STAYHOME period?

Cooking for myself!

Please tell us how you’re spending an average day during STAYHOME

I wake up at 9am, and send a “good morning” message to the group chat. For breakfast I have white rice, ham, eggs and miso soup. For lunch I get delivery from a neighbourhood restaurant. Then I continue watching things, and in the evening I go to the supermarket. I make dinner, and video call someone. After I clean up from dinner I watch a movie, have a bath and go to sleep~!
